Outsourced and Third-Party Order Handling Systems

This article contains older information. Go here for newer information on shopping carts and transactions.

These programs handle at least part of the transaction for the merchant. None require a merchant account or a payment gateway to do real-time credit card authorization. They are part of the service.

Third-party Handles Sale

Most of these shopping carts handle the transaction, but leave delivery of the product to the merchant (with the exception of Kagi and DigiBuy). Usually another website is needed where the merchant would paste in order buttons that activate these ordering systems.

Outsourced E-Commerce

Here both the transaction and product fulfillment are outsourced. I haven't included fulfillment houses here, but nearly all of them provide this sort of service, too.
