"I want to register a domain name. GoDaddy.com was recommended to me for a registrar. Any comment? Also, do I have to get web hosting at the same time I get a domain name or can I just reserve the name without a host?" -- Anne Seifert

There are many good registrars. GoDaddy has attractive rates. It's always enlightening to see what's being said about a vendor in various discussion groups by doing a Google Groups search. Then investigate to see if complaints have any merit. Take everything with "a grain of salt" -- ranting people tend to exaggerate and don't always check facts. I recommend 000Domains and I use them myself. Domains are about $13.50 and renew at $11 per year. They've provided me excellent service for changes and transfers for several years.
